This thriving family business, of over 30 years, started in the early seventies after Vic and Jean Holmes took their family on a camping holiday to Denmark. There, they were impressed by the quality tents and camping equipment not yet available in the UK. This market opportunity was seized upon by selling from the front garden of their home in Sprowston, on the outskirts of Norwich. Their hunch proved to be right and the business boomed. The present South Hill Road site became available and trading began from a large shed and two tents. Eldest son, Trevor - now managing the Superstore - soon became involved. In March 1979, a speciality shop in Norwich was acquired, later to be managed by Paul, dealing in backpacking, skiwear/equipment, and watersports, clothing and camping equipment.

1989 heralded the biggest development to the company. A 10,000-sq.feet purpose-built store with an outdoor display area was constructed on the site in Thorpe St. Andrew near Norwich. Large stocks of tents, trailer tents, caravan awnings, and barbecues along with all accessories became available to the delight of the outdoor leisure fraternity. The late nineties brought a conservatory style extension housing our collection of garden furniture.

From here, and the City Store, Trevor and Paul Holmes strive to bring the best deals in top name brands with the emphasis on quality, choice and value.
